This is a face-to-face theoretical course, delivered by specialist clinicians working in acute adult respiratory care.\u003cbr\u003eThe course covers:\u003cbr\u003e• Respiratory anatomy and physiology relevant to SLTs\u003cbr\u003e• Medical management of respiratory compromise and its impact on function\u003cbr\u003e• Tracheostomy management in respiratory compromise\u003cbr\u003e• Role of the multidisciplinary team in optimising respiratory function\u003cbr\u003e• Key issues for SLTs working with patients requiring ventilation\u003cbr\u003e• The role of instrumental swallow assessment in differential diagnosis and management of\u003cbr\u003edysphagia and voice disorders\u003cbr\u003eThrough lectures and discussion, attendees will increase their knowledge and confidence to\u003cbr\u003edevelop their clinical practice assessing, diagnosing and managing disorders of swallow and\u003cbr\u003evoice for patients with respiratory disease. Specific focus will include ARDS, EDAC, Type 1 and\u003cbr\u003etype 2 respiratory failure, COPD, ILO and ventilation including high flow nasal oxygen,\u003cbr\u003emechanical ventilation (both invasive and non-invasive) and tracheostomy management.\u003cbr\u003eAdditional information:\u003cbr\u003e• Lunch is not provided, however there is a restaurant on site, M\u0026amp;S and coffee\u003cbr\u003evendors on site should you need to purchase refreshments and food.\u003cbr\u003e• Visitor parking (charges apply) is available on site but can be limited.
